HISTORY OF THE COSTA DEL SOL

After 1950 the Costa del Sol appears as an international destination for tourism, a new elite, now the province of Malaga has one of the first places in number of passengers within the peninsula, which driven by infrastructure development and the large capacity of its people make this area a cosmopolitan space that mixes a wide variety of exotic customs and culture.

Costa del Sol's name first appeared in an Ibero-American Exposition in Seville in 1929 honoring the main feature of this area "the sun", this designation covering the entire coastline from the province of Cadiz to Almeria although currently is appointed under this name only to the Malaga coast.

Initially the city was Top Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol scoring high growth in tourism and causing massive infection to surrounding cities, in those times the region was already full of celebrities, while that became the scene of countless film shoots. But a few miles to the west through the influx of Alfonso de Hohenlohe, Norberto José Luque Goizueta and emerged as one of the most exclusive international destinations Marbella City, where aristocrats, celebrities and tycoons began to frequent the locality, which with the creation of Puerto Banus in the 60 completed to establish its name as the most exclusive of the Mediterranean coast.

Currently, the Costa del Sol has an important tourism infrastructure, where areas of golf, marinas, beaches, theme parks, museums and hotels are among the most prominent worldwide. It is noteworthy that the ability of Malaga airport, the seaport and cruise ship terminal and the connection to Madrid via the AVE (high speed train) promotes the region's tourist influx.

The Costa del Sol offers sun, beaches, golf tourism, nautical tourism, cultural tourism, learning (language schools), active tourism, wilderness, mountains, rivers, rural tourism, etc..
